Announcing Our New Fax Pre-Arbitration Review Number!

At MHS, we are committed to improving processes for our providers. We are excited to announce that in addition to mailing your pre-arbitration review requests, you can now fax them. This new option is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline processes and improve the overall experience for our valued providers.

What is Arbitration?  

In the event a provider is not satisfied with the outcome of the administrative claim appeal, the provider may request arbitration after all appeal requests have been exhausted. The binding arbitration process must be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the American Health Lawyers Association pursuant to the Uniform Arbitration Act as adopted in the State of Indiana at IC 34-57-2-2.  Prior to submitting a request for binding arbitration to the American Health Lawyers Association the provider may submit a written request for final review before arbitration to MHS on company letterhead either via mail or now fax. The request must be postmarked no later than 60 calendar days after the date the provider received MHS’ decision on the administrative claim appeal.

The letter should explain that a pre-arbitration review is being requested, the reason the provider still believes the claim should be paid or adjusted, along with sufficient information to allow MHS to identify the claim and verify they have been considered at both the dispute/ objection and the appeal stage prior to the arbitration request. Including this detailed claim information is instrumental in ensuring the pre-arbitration review process can proceed smoothly and efficiently.
